Mahvash Ring - RG1143D1

I recently got a shipment of dichroic glass custom made for me by Linda Abbott.
This is the second of 3 rings I made to test the new the cabochons. I love them! I absolutely love the depth of these cabochons. The brilliance, fire and incredible play of colours amazes me every time I pick them up.
Can you spot the texture that shows through all the greens and blues in this ring?
For those who are unfamiliar with dichroic glass, it is a technology used by NASA for the mirrors in their space telescopes.

Of course with a material this beautiful lamp workers (glass artists) were quick to explore it artistically. Dichroic glass is incredibly beautiful, but also fairly expensive. These cabochons cost more than many of the traditional gem stones such as onyx or malachite would cost.

The name Mahvash is the name of a dragon from the sea but in Persian means beautiful moon. But I thought the dragon scales worked well with the dragon's name.
