This is a great design to incorporate a birthstone, or anniversary stone. I could even create a complementary design for a set of earrings to match.
It is simply beautiful and beautifully simple. I think this piece would be particularly attractive worn in a choker length position to increase its effect of looking like it is dangling or worn lower one a longer chain to create a 'V' shape to draw attention down.
