Traumfische Broach (Portfolio) - BH0218N6

I really like this lovely little basse taille enameled broach. It was one of those designs that woke me up in the middle of the night and I couldn't get it out of my head until I just made it.

It's the first basse taille piece I've done in some while. Basse taille is the technique of using transparent enamels to show a pattern in the underlying metal.

I made a tool to texture the metal (fine 1.3mm silver) with an fish scale pattern. So each 'scale' is hand stamped using a hand made tool.

This piece has exceptional depth and texture with a whole lot of different layers of colours. To say the obvious, this is most definitely a one of a kind item.
